Hem Spotlight: Dr. Jill Ingenito, DO

Hem Spotlight: Dr. Jill Ingenito, DO

A huge part of our mission at Hem Support Wear is to normalize the conversation about pelvic floor health and build a community of support. Many people who experience prolapse or other pelvic floor conditions feel confused, isolated, or hopeless, and we believe it shouldn’t be that way.

Welcome to another installment of our series Hem Spotlight, where we feature real people and their pelvic floor health stories. Our hope is that by providing a platform for people to openly share their journeys, we will all feel less alone, more connected, and more empowered.

The following story comes from Dr. Jill Ingenito, DO. And be sure to check out our conversation with her about her commitment to helping patients reclaim their lives from the grips of pelvic pain and related disorders!

Tell us about your experience with POP.

I am a mom of two, and have had two vaginal deliveries myself. Let's just say I leak when I jump on the trampoline. Pelvic floor physical therapy, a pessary, and support wear have been super helpful! I am also a full scope OBGYN, so I take care of women in pregnancy and after. My focus is pelvic pain and pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.

Do you have any advice or words of comfort/encouragement/hope you’d like to give someone who may be at the beginning of their POP journey?

If you are at the beginning of your POP journey, I would want you to know there are several non-invasive ways to manage prolapse, including pelvic floor PT, biofeedback, a pessary, and support wear from Hem.

What are your favorite pelvic health resources (online, in person, etc.) if you have any?

Your OBGYN should be your first go to. Your pelvic floor PT should be your #2. I also love Instagram and follow many PT's on Instagram for other pelvic health resources.

How can we, as the Hem Support Wear community, be a source of support and connection for you or someone else?

The Hem Support Wear community can be a source of support and connection for others by helping to normalize treatment for POP.

What kinds of content/topics would you like to see us talk about on our blog and social media?

I think you are doing a great job. Pessaries would also be a great topic.

Interested in sharing your POP/pelvic health story as part of our series? We’d be honored! Submit your story here.
